NVQ Level 2 Plastering

 

Introduction:

The NVQ Diploma in Plastering (Construction) Level 2 will develop knowledge and skills in areas such as applying solid and finishing plaster and solid render to surfaces and producing and repairing fibrous plaster components. Learners can specialise in laying sand and cement screeds, applying projection plaster and render, and installing mechanically fixed plasterboard.

Pre-requisites:

This qualification targets individuals currently working seeking recognition for their prior learning and experience in the field.

 

Course Structure:

To obtain this qualification, a minimum of 6 units must be achieved, comprising 5 from the Mandatory Group and 1 from the Optional Group.

 

Mandatory Units

 

  • Conforming to general health, safety and welfare in the workplace
  • Conforming to productive working practices in the workplace
  • Moving, handling and storing resources in the workplace
  • Applying finishing plaster to prepared surfaces in the workplace
  • Producing internal solid plastering finishes in the workplace
  • Applying solid render to background surfaces and producing finishes in the workplace

 

Optional Units – ONE unit

 

  • Installing direct bond dry lining systems in the workplace
  • Laying sand and cement screeds in the workplace
  • Applying projection plaster and render, and maintaining equipment in the workplace
  • Installing mechanically fixed plasterboard in the workplace

 

Assessment Process:

NVQ Funding eligibility and claim process: 

Eligibility for the CITB Grant scheme extends to all construction companies registered with CITB, encompassing smaller enterprises exempt from the levy (those with a wage bill below £80k). The grant applies to directly employed staff and subcontractors.

Claimable Amounts and Application Procedure: From April 1st, 2023, CITB registered companies can claim:

£600 for Level 2 NVQs
£1200 for Level 3-4 NVQs
£1500 for Level 6-7 NVQs

Upon NVQ completion, submitting a CITB Grant application form with necessary details and learners’ certificates to grant.claimforms@citb.co.uk initiates the claim process, typically taking around 4 weeks for processing.

Frequently asked questions

Yes, if you need a CSCS card while you are doing your qualification, you can apply for the Experienced Worker card. You can request this card as soon as we have enrolled you on the NVQ (you will also need to pass the CITB Health, Safety, and Environment Test). To apply for the temporary card, we will email you your proof of enrollment, which you must submit to CSCS. You will then upgrade to the Skilled Worker card once you have finished the qualification.
